Stacy De Gorostiza speaks at the Future Leaders of Chemical Engineering

Our longtime undergraduate researcher Anastacia De Gorostiza recently presented her research at the Future Leaders of Chemical Engineering Symposium at NC State. This symposium recognizes the top undergraduate researchers in chemical engineering in the United States. Congrats Stacy! Stacy has been working as a part of the Center during her four years at UT Austin.

Brian Korgel presents Avant Garden: Dialogue on Entropy

If you are in the Washington DC area, you can check out Brian's art exhibit that is on display at Culture House! Brian teamed up with George Washington University professor, James Sham, to create two installations as a part of their ongoing exploration of the way art and science interact. Avant Garden is viewable for free at all hours. The Culture House website has more information here. The installation closes on December 17, 2022.

Fall 2022 IAB Meeting - That's a wrap!
October 12, 2022

Thank you to everyone who could attend the meeting either in person or via Zoom! We had a great turn-out with 38 people participating in person and another 14 online. In total, 15 projects were attended for the next year and we'll have detailed minutes posted to the member's site in the coming days.

SPF2050 researcher Wen Liu passed her dissertation defense this week and has been awarded with a PhD in Chemical Engineering from UT Austin. Wen will be joining the Pall Corporation in New York. Good luck, Wen!

Josh Hammond starts NSF INTERN program with Shell

Congratulations to UT Austin 2nd year student Josh Hammond on receiving an INTERN award from NSF which will allow him to work at Shell as an intern for most of the remainder of 2022!

TEX-E Fellows program
April 12, 2022

We are seeking Texas students with a passion for innovation, a drive for climate action, and an understanding of energy technology to participate in the TEX-E Fellows program. TEX-E stands for Texas Entrepreneurship Exchange for Energy. It’s a first-of-a-kind collaboration between Greentown Labs, MIT’s Martin Trust Center, and four Texas universities: Texas A&M, UT-Austin, University of Houston, and Rice University. Our first in-person IAB meeting since 2019 has concluded!
April 6, 2022

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to attend our IAB meeting either in person or virtually. We had over 50 attendees and it was great to see such a strong participation. Congratulations to our new co-chairs, Herie Soto (Shell) and Ray Lewandowski (Power Roll) and thank you once again to Gang Xiong of First Solar for his many years of leadership of our board prior to this new changing of the guard.

We wanted to also extend a special thank you to Bastian of CTF Solar for staying up until midnight in Germany to be involved until the very end of the meeting. Our next IAB meeting will take place in Fort Collins, CO on October 11-12, 2022 and we can't wait to see you all again!

Our Spring IAB meeting is next month!

We're just under a month away from our Spring IAB meeting which will take place in Austin, TX. This will be our first in-person meeting in a few years and we can't wait to see you all! The meeting will be presented in a hybrid fashion for those who are unable to attend. More details at the IAB Meeting page!

Postdoc position filled

Congratulations to our newest team member, Nha Tran, who has accepted the offer to join the Center as a postdoc. Thank you to everyone who applied for the position. Nha will move to Austin and get started at UT on April 1, 2022. Welcome, Nha!
