UT Austin receives NSF grant to collaborate with METU's PV Center

 

A team lead by Center Director Brian Korgel has received a grant from the NSF to collaborate with Turkey's METU on Energy Harvesting for Sustainable and Energy Efficient Buildings of the Future. Matching funding was provided by TUBITAK, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey.

Douglas Pernik of UT Austin named I/UCRC Innovation Fellow

 

As a recipient of this Fellowship, Doug will live in Melbourne, Australia for three months next summer while collaborating with researchers from CSIRO and The University of Melbourne.The funding from the NSF will go towards travel, living expenses and supply expenses.

UT Austin site awarded Veteran's Research Supplement (VRS)

 

The VRS will provide the UT Austin site with a $10,000 supplement that will be used to fund the research of  veteran undergraduate, Ty Updegrave, over the course of the next year. Ty began working with the Korgel Group in July 2013. Congrats Ty!

2013 National Defense Energy Summit visitors to tour UT Austin NGPV Facilities

 

Attendees of next week's 2013 National Defense Energy Summit that will be held in Austin, TX will have an opportunity to tour the facilities that the UT Austin team utilizes as well as receive information on the Center and its activities and capabilities. UT Austin graduate students will help lead the tour.

Center Director receives 2012 AIChE Professional Progress Award, gives talk at 2013 Annual Meeting

 

As the recipient of last year's award, Brian was invited to give a lecture at the 2013 AIChE Annual Meeting that was held in San Francisco, CA. The award is given to a Chemical Engineer who has made a "significant contribution to the science of chemical engineering." The UTK Planning Meeting concluded with successful participation by Eastman Chemical, XSI Solar, Oak Ridge National Labs, Solvay and others.  Thanks to our hosts at hte University of Tennessee as well as the National Science Foundation for a successful meeting.
